Kevin Campbell has insisted it is “massive” for Aston Villa to midfielder John McGinn a new bumper contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Everton and Arsenal striker claimed McGinn will have been attracting the interest of the Premier League’s top six for his consistent excellence.
McGinn became the latest Villa star to commit his long-term future to Villa following club skipper Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings.

Like Grealish and Mings, McGinn has put pen to paper on an improved contract that runs until the summer of 2025.
The Scotland international has been an ever-present in Dean Smith’s side this season and Campbell is in no doubt about his influence.
He told Football Insider: “It’s massively important that you tie down your best players to long-term contracts.
“These are the players that are going to be coveted by the so-called big-six, those with European ambitions who want British players to beef their squad up.
“Villa have done the right thing in signing McGinn, Grealish and Mings down to new deals.”
McGinn has started all 11 of Villa’s Premier League matches this season, including Thursday’s 0-0 draw against Burnley.
He has been a regular goalscorer and creator for the Midlands giants, with his 85 games across all competitions yielding 11 goals and 17 assists.
The Scot’s latest contract follows just 16 months after his previous deal, signed in August 2019, a year after his arrival from Hibernian.
