Campbell salutes Gerrard after multiple Rangers signings update

Kevin Campbell has claimed Rangers are striving to “put daylight” between themselves and Celtic in the transfer market this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker heaped praise on Steven Gerrard and his staff for their “proactive mindset” in the off-season.

The Gers have already completed the signings of John Lundstram, Fashion Sakala and Nnamdi Ofoborh in this window.

As revealed by Football Insider (12th July), the club are preparing to secure two more senior signings before the transfer cut-off.

However, such arrivals are dependent on departures from Ibrox, as well as outcome of their Champions League qualifiers.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Rangers’ transfer activity, Campbell said:

“Rangers are not resting on their laurels because Steven Gerrard knows that if the club stands still others will go past them. It makes it even more difficult to kick on and push forward.

“It is vital to have a proactive mindset and that is what Steven Gerrard and his staff have. They are going to try and put daylight between themselves and Celtic. That is what they so badly want.

“They want back-to-back titles and at least one cup next season. I’m sure they will all want to do well in the Champions League as well and to do that they need strength in depth. It is going to be a really interesting season in Scotland.”
