Campbell ‘surprised’ by West Ham insider’s Kurt Zouma update – ‘surely not’

Kevin Campbell would be “surprised” if Kurt Zouma lost his place in the West Ham XI when Nayef Aguerd returns to full fitness.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker heaped praise on Zouma, 27, and described him as “the best centre-half” at the club.

The France international has been ever-present for the Hammers in the Premier League this season.

However, according to Irons insider’s Claret and Hugh (11 October), there are concerns over Zouma’s form this season from club staff.

There is said to be a feeling at the club that the centre-back will be rotated out of the side when Aguerd returns to full match sharpness.

Speaking to club media (12 October), David Moyes revealed Aguerd is in line to return to team training next week.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the news of Zouma’s place potentially being at risk, Campbell said: “Surely not.

“I cannot wait to see when everyone is fully fit.

“I would be surprised if Kurt Zouma did not play because in my eyes he is the best centre-half they have got.

“Zouma has been nothing short of sensational for West Ham. I think he has been either pretty good or outstanding in the games I’ve watched.

“[Thilo] Kehrer has been a bit up and down at times for me. Zouma is the main guy for me.”

In other news, an ex-Premier League referee has claimed West Ham have profited from a major injustice as controversial Craig Dawson footage emerges.
