Campbell: ‘Temperature high’ at Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp hits out at rival manager

Kevin Campbell has claimed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is “the master” at deflecting blame from his players.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said “temperatures are high” at Anfield following a “very difficult” start to the season.

Liverpool lost 3-2 at the Emirates last Sunday in a game laden with controversial officiating.

As quoted by the Mirror (10 October), Jurgen Klopp pointed the finger at Mikel Arteta and referee Michael Oliver.

Klopp accused Arteta of pressuring the referee into booking Joe Gomez in the second half of the clash for time-wasting from a throw-in.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Klopp’s post-match comments, Campbell said:

There is no love lost between Klopp and Arteta, that’s for sure.

“Look, the temperatures are high at Liverpool right now. They lost again in the Premier League and the pressure is on.

“They are going to nit-pick and try and deflect stuff. Jurgen Klopp is a master of this business. He has been there, seen it and done it. He knows exactly what he is talking about.

“Listen, he is taking the heat off his players. I do not blame him either. The big one is coming up. There is no two ways about it, they have to beat Man City. This start to the season has been very difficult to take for the fans.”
