Campbell verdict on Liverpool sealing ‘wonderful’ Nicolo Barella signing after £75m report
Kevin Campbell has claimed Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella would be “a wonderful signing” for Liverpool.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker believes the Reds will prioritise the addition of Jude Bellingham next summer instead.
Jurgen Klopp’s squad has been rocked by injuries to Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over the past few weeks.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (6 August), Klopp said “we will see” when quizzed about the possibility of a midfield signing before the transfer window closes.
The Liverpool boss insisted any additions to the squad must “make sense now and in the long-term.”
According to the Mirror (9 August), the Reds have held a long-term interest in Nicolo Barella.
Inter Milan value their player in the region of £75-100million.
When asked by Football Insider if Barella would be a welcome addition at Anfield, Campbell said: “Barella would be a wonderful signing but I cannot see it happening.
“I think we all know who Liverpool and Klopp have got their eye on for next season. They want [Jude] Bellingham. To bring somebody else in now might muddy the water. I don’t think they will do it unless they get really desperate.
“Let’s be honest, Liverpool have got the bodies. They have enough to see them through the next five or six weeks.

“Yes, they will be linked with the likes of Barella because he is a really good player. The truth is, I don’t see it happening.
“I think the deal with Borussia Dortmund is going to be done next summer.”
