Scott Brown delivers verdict on upcoming Celtic clash v Rangers

Celtic skipper Scott Brown isn’t taking anything for granted, even though the Hoops stand on the verge of clinching a second domestic treble in two seasons.

The Bhoys can clinch the league title with a win over bitter rivals Rangers on Sunday, and are set to face Motherwell in next month’s Scottish Cup Final, but Brown is urging caution even though the Hoops are on the verge of making football history.

Brown was asked about winning the treble by Sky Sports, and was taking things one game at a time.

“That would be incredible, but we can’t get too carried away with ourselves, we’ve got a huge game coming up on Sunday, we need to win that first,” he said.

If the Hoops do pull off the ‘double treble’, they will become the first team in Scottish football history to win the domestic treble two seasons in a row.

Football Insider verdict

Brown is being sensible with his comments, as the Hoops can only look at one game at a time, in their quest to win the treble once more. One thing that could possibly be taken into account is that Brendan Rodgers may decide to rest some players for the remainder of the league season should the Bhoys clinch the title against the Gers. That would allow the players to be rested and fully focused and ready for the Scottish Cup Final. Brown will keen to get the title won as soon as possible, as he and the rest of his team-mates were poor when they could have won the league against Hibernian last week, winning the title against the Gers would more than make up for that.
