‘This better be true’ – Leeds fans react to reported interest in 28-year-old
By Will Butcher
Leeds fans are undecided on Twitter after a report claimed their club were readying a mega bid for former academy product Jonny Howson.
Team Talk claimed on Wednesday that Leeds were looking to complete a £4million move to bring Howson back to Elland Road, five years after he left
the club to join Norwich.
Howson, 28, remains popular on the terraces at the Yorkshire club and was afforded a standing ovation and a warm reception by Leeds fans following the 3-3 draw against Norwich in April.
It is believed that Premier League duo Burnley and Brighton are also said to be interested in the former England Under-21 international, who could be tempted to leave the Canaries.
Norwich could be willing to sell Howson, as they look to improve their financial situation after failing to earn an instant return back to top flight of English football.
Leeds fans have failed to agree on Twitter over the potential signing of Howson, with some claiming that £4million is too much to spend on a player like Howson.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Howson made a huge 219 league and cup appearances for Leeds as well as wearing the captain’s armband, scoring 27 goals and guiding his side to promotion from League One in 2010.
In other Leeds transfer news, fans have also reacted to speculation that the club are looking to sign this French speed machine.
