Carlo Ancelotti provides his verdict on Champions League draw with Arsenal

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he is confident his team can knock Arsenal out of the Champions League.

The Premier League outfit were drawn up against the German champions on Monday morning for the last-16 stage of the prestigious competition.

It is the fourth time in five seasons Arsene Wenger’s side will come up against Bayern, most recently last term when the Gunners finished behind them during the group stages.

Now they are set to meet in the Allianz Arena in mid-February, with the second leg set to take place at the Emirates in early March.

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti provided his thoughts on the tricky European tie as he also offered his opinion on Wenger.

“The are two very interesting games, which I now look forward,” Ancelotti told Bayern Munich’s official website. “I have confidence in my team and hope that we reach the quarter-finals. To do so, we have a good starting position for the game in London in the first leg in the Allianz Arena.

“Arsenal currently has a very good team and a coach that I appreciate. The Londoners are currently top in the Premier League and have only lost once in the league this season. It’s going to be difficult, but I’m confident. ”

Arsenal are currently enjoying an impressive start to the 2016/17 campaign. First of all they have only been beaten once in the Premier League and they topped their Champions League group.

The Gunners currently occupy second place in the league table, three points behind leaders Chelsea who have won nine fixtures in a row.

In Europe Arsenal topped Group A by claiming 14 points from six games, two points ahead of Paris Saint-Germain who will face Barcelona in the knockout stages.

For Ancelotti’s side domestically they top the Bundesliga table with 33 points from 14 games, level on points with RB Leipzig.

In other Arsenal news, supporters on Twitter are not happy after they were drawn against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
