Carlos Alcaraz sends message to Everton fans after Liverpool bust-up
Everton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz has sent a message to Everton fans on social media after their dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Everton signed Alcaraz late on Deadline Day from Flamengo, and he came off the bench in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park (12 February) in the 77th minute.
The 22-year-old was the only signing for the Toffee’s on the final day of the transfer window, despite the fact Everton had four players they wanted to sign before the deadline.
The Merseyside derby was a typically feisty affair, and it began with a Beto opener in the 11th minute.
League-leaders Liverpool turned the match in their favour, with goals from Alexis Mac Allister in the 16th minute, and Mohamed Salah scored what looked to be the winner in the 73rd minute.
James Tarkowski re-wrote the script for the Goodison Park finale, scoring a world-class volley in the 98th minute to level the scores.
Tensions boiled over at full-time, Liverpool’s Arne Slot and Curtis Jones were shown red cards and Abdoulaye Doucoure was also sent off for Everton.
Referee Michael Oliver worked hard to keep control over the Merseyside derby, but the Reds were incensed by some of his decision’s, and Doucoure’s taunting of Liverpool fans after the final whistle.
Carlos Alcaraz given fiery re-introduction to Premier League football at Everton
Following the draw, Alcaraz posted a series of photos of himself in action on his Instagram, captioned: “Big team effort in the derby. Thank you to the Toffees for your support. We keep going. Come on Everton.”

The former Southampton midfielder is no stranger to some of football’s biggest games, having played for Flamengo in Brazil, Racing Club in Argentina, and Juventus in Italy.
All of the midfielder’s previous teams have tense historical derbies they are involved in, but Wednesday’s match against Liverpool was one for the history books.
Police are likely to respond to a missile thrown at Everton and Liverpool players, Keith Hackett has told Football Insider exclusively.
Everton continue to excel under David Moyes
Football Insider Verdict
Despite not getting all of the transfer targets he wished for in January, Moyes has shown his quality as a manager once again, in his second stint in charge at Everton.
The Toffees looked to be drifting into a relegation battle, once again, under previous boss Sean Dyche.
Moyes has rejuvenated his new side, and Everton have won three, drawn one, and lost only one game in the Premier League since the former West Ham boss returned to the team he left in 2013.
