‘Carlos Alcaraz situation opens door to Jack Harrison stay at Everton’

Jack Harrison could benefit from Carlos Alcaraz’s loan spell at Everton to seal a permanent move away from Leeds United.

The Leeds loanee seemed to burn his bridges when swapping Elland Road for Goodison Park, having jumped ship when the Whites were being relegated from the Premier League in 2023.

Despite this, the 28-year-old is set to end his stay with the Toffees and return to Daniel Farke‘s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, whether he likes that idea or not.

Had he impressed in either of his seasons at Goodison Park, a permanent deal might already be on the cards, but with four goals and three assists in 53 games, that looks unlikely and would be unpopular with fans.

However, another of David Moyes’ loan stars could provide his best hope to strike a deal to move away from Elland Road and confirm his spot at Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium ahead of next season.

Carlos Alcaraz quickly becoming fan favourite at Everton

Everton fans have fallen head over heels for Carlos Alcaraz despite making just six appearances to date, and his only goal contributions coming in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last month.

According to GE Globo [26 February], the Toffees were already 30 per cent of the way to triggering a permanent deal for the Argentine, taking another step towards that with his appearance against Wolves.

The deal is expected to be worth £15million, plus £3million in add-ons, which is certainly a transfer which could happen under The Friedkin Group’s new ownership at Everton.

Alcaraz is still clearly getting used to his surroundings, returning to England for the first time since his spell at Southampton, and Harrison is helping him with the transition.

Jack Harrison to piggyback off Carlos Alcaraz transfer

The Leeds loanee has been teaching the new signing English, and being able to speak fluent Spanish thanks to his Costa Rican wife has helped the pair form a special bond at Everton.

If the Toffees are to bring Alcaraz to the club on a permanent basis as he continues to learn the language and understand his surroundings, it could be that he personally would be in favour of Harrison staying.

Clearly the two have created a rare friendship, one that could aid both of their developments on Merseyside. If Moyes wants to sign Alcaraz permanently this summer, he may see greater merits in handing Harrison a new deal as well than if he were purely judging the Englishman by his numbers on the pitch.
