Carney Chukwuemeka to Celtic: O’Rourke shares ‘big’ update today
Celtic could look to sign Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that any deal for the 21-year-old would require Chelsea to contribute to his wages.
Chukwuemeka is on “big” money at Stamford Bridge that Celtic would be unable to afford without some contributions from the Premier League giants.
It is being seen as a potentially exciting signing for the Scottish giants to help them continue competing on all fronts this season.
Chelsea are considering letting Chukwuemeka on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window, which is why a potential loan deal is seen as something that would suit all parties.
A loan move would provide the Blues with a chance to put Chukwuemeka in the shop window as he would play more regularly under Brendan Rodgers, but he’s not top of Celtic’s radar for a summer move.
Carney Chukwuemeka could enhance his career at Celtic
The central midfielder has only made four appearances for the Blues this season, with three of those coming in the Europa Conference League.
Chukwuemeka also played against Barrow in the EFL Cup, but all four of his appearances have been from the substitute bench.
The Chelsea midfielder made 12 appearances last season in all competitions and scored two goals and provided one assist.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers will have the finances available to him to do that.
