Jamie Carragher has given his view on the expected arrival of Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee at Everton, backing the club’s choices and calling the new manager a “survival specialist”.

On Twitter, the Sky Sports Pundit was full of praise for both the new men in his brief message, where he also labelled Lee a “serial winner.”

The Liverpool legend believes it’s exactly what the Toffees need as they sit 17th, two points clear of the relegation zone, with only 12 points from 13 games.

Allardyce is widely expected to be announced as Everton’s new manager, with Lee arriving alongside the former England boss.

The pair worked together at Crystal Palace and were successful in keeping them in the Premier League.

However, just like Carragher, Lee is a Liverpool legend and with Everton’s great rivalry with the Reds, fans may be uneasy at his presence at their club.

Lee spent 35 years associated with Liverpool, with spells as a player and a coach, but hasn’t worked for the club in any capacity since Kenny Dalglish told him he was no longer required in 2011.
