Casemiro spotted ‘absolutely screaming’ at Manuel Ugarte in Man United clash

Casemiro was spotted exploding at teammate Manuel Ugarte in Man United’s Europa League semi-final clash with Athletic Club.

Serious questions were being asked of Man United boss Ruben Amorim prior to his side’s clash with their Spanish opponents.

With the Red Devils sitting 14th in the Premier League, any semblance of success for the Portuguese manager’s first season is riding on the club’s Europa League campaign.

Having mounted a monumental extra-time comeback in their previous match against Lyon, United carried on their momentum by taking a stunning 3-0 lead against Athletic at the break.

However, despite the Red Devils being on course to make the final of the competition they won in 2017, tempers flared on the pitch between star midfielders Casemiro and Ugarte.

Rio Ferdinand sports furious Man United star at Athletic Bilbao

Following Bruno Fernandes‘ first goal of the night and United’s second, the visiting side were looking to compose themselves in front of a ferocious Athletic crowd.

Stepping up and taking charge was the Red Devils’ much-maligned midfielder Casemiro, no stranger to a high-pressure European night from his time at Real Madrid.

Ex-Man United man, Rio Ferdinand spotted the midfielder having words with teammate Ugarte live on the TNT Sports commentary (1 May, 8.43pm): “I’ve seen Casemiro a little while ago absolutely screaming at Ugarte. ‘Wake up!’ he was saying.

“You can see it, not happy with his early start to the game. The experience telling in them moments.”

Man United must replicate big-game performances on regular basis

Football Insider Verdict

Some of the teams that United have either won or avoided defeat against this season include: Lyon, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Conversely, the Red Devils have also lost against: West Ham, Wolves (twice), Brighton, Tottenham (three times), and Crystal Palace.

There is no doubt that this is a side capable of going blow-for-blow with some of Europe’s heavy hitters, but against the sides in which they are favourites, their performances leave much to be desired.

Against Athletic, with the white handkerchiefs being waved by the home fans and piercing whistles making it difficult to think, United looked composed and in control, albeit with the benefit of playing against 10 men for the majority.

If they can find a way to consistently step up to the occasion, whether it’s Ipswich away or Man City at home, the Red Devils will become a titan of the footballing world once again.
