Casemiro ‘will move’ to Saudi Arabia from Man United – sources

Casemiro is expected to leave Man United in a move to Saudi Arabia either in January or next summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that United will have to cut their losses on the Brazilian who, at 32 years old, has no resale value.

Sources say the midfielder is already considering a move to the Saudi Pro League after a nightmare start to the season at Old Trafford.

Despite having been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer transfer window, Casemiro stayed put to keep his place in the team.

However, the arrival of Manuel Ugarte is expected to push him down the pecking order under the management of Erik ten Hag.

As a result of that, as well as his own fading abilities, the defensive midfielder is now expected to move to the Middle East where he has attracted plenty of interest.

With two years remaining on his current contract at Man United, the club will be forced to sanction a cut-priced exit to see him leave.

Casemiro expected to move to Saudi Arabia in cut-price Man United deal

Casemiro made the move to Man United from Real Madrid for a massive £70million fee in 2022, but has been a shadow of his former self at Old Trafford.

His role at the base of Ten Hag’s midfield has often come under scrutiny, most notably when Jamie Carragher told him to “leave the football before the football leaves you” following a disastrous performance in a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The criticism of his performances has continued this season, with fans insisting he should never play for the club again after he was hooked at half-time against Liverpool.

Now, a move to Saudi Arabia is growing more likely and clubs in the Middle East are already plotting moves for when the transfer window opens.

The 32-year-old has also been linked with a move to Turkey, with their transfer window set to close on 13 September, but a late deal looks unlikely at this stage.

Man United

Casemiro is now being backed to join his former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in making the move to Saudi Arabia.

The move is viewed as a final payday for the Brazilian, whose time in England is expected to come to a close within the next 12 months.
