‘Celebrating like you won the Champions League’, ‘Hilarious’ – Celtic fans mock Rangers as celebration footage emerges

Celtic fans have mocked Rangers for their “embarrassing” celebrations after winning the Viaplay Cup against Aberdeen on Sunday (17 December).

The Gers secured their first trophy under Philippe Clement courtesy of James Tavernier’s second-half strike at Hampden Park in the 1-0 win.

Predictably, fans and players alike were ecstatic with the victory after the dismal opening spell of the season under Michael Beale and celebrated in style – parading the trophy to supporters and chanting into the night.

However, Hoops fans, who have won the trophy seven times in the last 10 seasons, were far from impressed with their achievement and accused Rangers of over-celebrating as the latest footage dropped online.

They have taken to social media to ridicule their “diddy” Cup win and some have suggested that their celebrations are indicative of just how far the club has fallen off.

Some supporters hammered the Gers for celebrating as if they’d won a European Trophy.

This fan claimed Rangers supporters are hypocritical for being so happy for the win after previously labelling the competition as “tinpot”.

This supporter claimed that Celtic had allowed Rangers to take home the silverware.

One supporter made it clear that he does not value the Viaplay Cup at all.

One fan claimed that Rangers’ relative lack of silverware was clear to see from the celebrations.

This supporter completely diminished Rangers’ achievement considering how frequently Celtic have lifted the trophy themselves.
