Senior Celtic player aims a hilarious dig at Joey Barton

By Amir Mir

Celtic ace Leigh Griffiths has aimed a hilarious dig at Joey Barton by stating that if you opened up his teammate Scott Brown you would find the former Rangers player.

Striker Griffiths, 26, was most likely referring to the Old Firm victory in September when the Bhoys defeated their rivals 5-1 in the Scottish Premiership.

Midfield duo Barton and Brown played in that contest, with the latter coming out on top as his side cruised to a crushing victory.

Brown played 73 minutes of that contest as their battle in the middle of the park was particularly scrutinised by supporters.

Additionally, the game against Celtic would prove to be the last match Barton played for the Gers as he would eventually leave the club after agreeing to terminate his contract.

Here is Scotland international Griffiths aiming a dig at Barton on his personal Twitter account.

Former Manchester City player Barton featured on eight occasions in all competitions for Mark Warburton’s side.

He played the full match during the Glasgow clash in September but was then suspended by the club following a training ground incident involving teammate Andy Halliday.

Forward Griffiths missed the game because of a calf injury, but it was his attacking partner, Moussa Dembele who stole the headlines with a hat-trick.

After leaving Ibrox, Barton has since re-joined his former club Burnley after agreeing a deal with the Premier League club until the end of the season – “subject to international clearance once the transfer window opens in January”.

In other Celtic news, Rangers manager Mark Warburton is hoping this player has not suffered a serious injury ahead of the Old Firm game.
