Report: Celtic held talks throughout Monday to finalise new signing, more discussions today
By Harry Sykes
Celtic are in advanced talks to sign Patrick Roberts from Manchester City and will aim to wrap up the deal today (Tuesday), according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim the Hoops are working on sealing the loan capture of the winger before tonight’s 11pm Champions League transfer deadline.
Celtic want to land Roberts, 20, in time for him to play in Wednesday’s first-leg Champions League qualification clash against FC Astana.
It is said that Roberts, 20, has made it clear to City chiefs that he wants to return to Celtic for a second spell after a successful 18-month loan that ended in June.
The Scottish Sun report that City would prefer to loan the wide man to a club playing consistently at a higher level in order for him to gain more top-level experience, with Nice and Southampton among those interested.

City have not yet granted permission to Celtic to hold talks with Roberts about another loan deal.
But Celtic will aim to jump the final hurdles of negotiations and thrash out an agreement today with the Premier League giants.
Time is of the essence as manager Brendan Rodgers is unable to call upon the injured Moussa Dembele, while Leigh Griffiths is suffering from calf problems.
The Champions League tie will be pivotal to Celtic’s season as they aim to secure a place in the lucrative group stages of Europe’s leading competition for a second consecutive campaign.
England Under-20 international Roberts made a huge impression for the treble winners last season, with his haul of 11 goals and 19 assists from 43 league and cup appearances enough to catch the eyes of clubs all around Europe.
