Celtic and Rangers joined by English clubs in race to sign Motherwell star Elijah Just

Celtic and Rangers are facing competition from English clubs as they both line up moves to sign Motherwell attacker Elijah Just.

Just is attracting the attention of clubs south of the border as he shines in his debut Scottish Premiership season with Motherwell.

Celtic and Rangers are both also interested in his services ahead of the summer, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast.

The New Zealand international has registered seven goals and six assists in 28 league games so far to help fire the Fir Park side into fourth place as it stands.

Celtic’s transfer plans are on the back burner, alongside Rangers, as they each focus on beating Hearts to the Premiership title, but both could miss out on Just as he attracts interest in England.

English clubs are rivalling Celtic and Rangers for Elijah Just

Celtic have one player in the top 10 Premiership scorers so far this season, in Benjamin Nygren, while Youssef Chermiti and James Tavernier are the only Rangers representatives right now.

Just displayed his scoring prowess against the Hoops with the opener in their clash at Parkhead on 14 March before Martin O’Neill’s side claimed a 3-1 win.

Both clubs would like to add the 25-year-old to their ranks to help improve their attacking play next term, but could miss out as English clubs also keep tabs on his progress at Motherwell.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I’m sure that Just is one of a number of players that, probably not just Rangers and Celtic are looking at, but clubs in England are as well.”

Brighton could beat Celtic to Damian Bobadilla signing

Another player that the Hoops could lose out on to an English team is Sao Paulo midfielder Bobadilla.

He has been a key man for the Brazilian giants for several seasons now, and has picked up 18 caps for Paraguay since his international debut in 2023.

Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Brighton are leading Celtic in the race for Bobadilla ahead of the summer window.

Their financial prowess is the main reason why, while the Seagulls’ impressive South American recruitment has previously seen them land the likes of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, so there is a clear pathway to become a top Premier League player on the south coast.
