Celtic backed for ‘£30m’ summer spending spree after what expert has seen

Frank McAvennie has claimed Celtic will spend “£30million” on new signings this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Rangers should “know what they are going to be up against” next season.

As quoted by the Daily Record (25 April), recent Ibrox arrival Todd Cantwell said he wants to add to the Gers’ trophy haul whilst he is at the club.

The midfielder said he “doesn’t want” the trophy haul to be on 55 by the time he leaves the club.

Their rivals Celtic have already secured one of the three major domestic trophies this season after beating the Gers to the League Cup earlier this year.

The Hoops have also all but secured the Scottish Premiership title and are one game away from the Scottish Cup and a historic treble.

When asked if he expects another prolonged period of Celtic dominances, McAvennie told Football Insider:What people do not realise is that Celtic will spend another £30m in the summer.

They have got money they are going to spend. People will go out the door and there will be good players coming in.

The manager at Celtic has brought players in that you know are going to be playing next year, like [Yuki] Kobayashi at the back.

What a good player he is. I would put him in now but the manager is leaving him out for now.

That is for next year, [Tomoki] Iwata is obviously for next year. So Rangers know what they are going to be up against next year.
