Celtic backed to agree ‘£25million’ Josip Juranovic deal – pundit

Alan Hutton has backed Celtic to sell Josip Juranovic for “£25million”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said clubs are willing to spend an “absolute fortune” on World Cup stars like Juranovic.

On 30 November, sources told this site that the Hoops are confident of agreeing a £5million-plus January deal for the 27-year-old.

The Glasgow giants could be set to lose their star right-back just 18 months after his arrival after failing to agree a new contract.

The Croatian’s Parkhead deal runs until 2026 but he is keen to listen to offers from elite clubs in the upcoming window.

Juranovic has shined at the World Cup where he earned a man of the match display as Croatia overcame tournament favourites Brazil.

Although the defender’s World Cup dreams are over after a 3-0 semi-final defeat to Argentina, Celtic could still make a big profit on the internationalist.

When asked if the Celts will be able to demand more money for Juranovic after the tournament, Hutton told Football Insider:Definitely.

With every performance that he gives, he is definitely shining. Everybody is raving about him so that just adds money on to what you were looking for.

We could be sitting here talking £20m or £25m, that is the stage that we are at. He is definitely shining on the highest stage possible.

He deserves all the plaudits he has been getting, I think he has been brilliant.

There will be a lot of suitors out there probably monitoring the situation and probably thinking £20m or £25m, that is relatively cheap. If you want to go and buy a World Cup star it is going to cost you an absolute fortune.
