Celtic backed to seal ‘£7m’ Wilfred Ndidi deal after source’s ‘big’ reveal – pundit

Celtic could land Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi for £7million.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted Ndidi would be a great addition to Brendan Rodgers’ side.

As relayed by footballscotland (19 June), the new Parkhead boss is interested in bringing his former player to Glasgow this summer but the possible fee could be a stumbling block.

The 26-year-old joined Leicester City in 2018 from Genk in a £17m deal and is entering the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes are set to lose a number of big players following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Rodgers returns to Parkhead after being sacked by Leicester earlier this season and succeeds Ange Postecoglou who heads for the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur.

On 14 June, Football Insider revealed that Rodgers is set to be handed a “big” summer transfer budget after he agreed to become their next manager.

Hutton suggested the Hoops might be willing to pay up for the midfielder.

They are going to have to pay decent money for him,” he told Football Insider.

But this always happens when a manager goes to a new club, these links always pop up.

Of course a defensive midfielder of that quality makes your team even better.

They might be in a position to spend big on him. Champions League football is guaranteed, they might be in a position to spend £7m, £8m or £9m on a player.

In other news, Celtic set to block Tottenham deal as Postecoglou clause emerges.
