Celtic blasted over Christie blunder blunder after £3m reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has blasted Celtic for failing to tie Ryan Christie down to a new contract following his move to Bournemouth.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 26-year-old felt “undervalued” at Parkhead.
Bournemouth announced the capture of the Scotland international on Tuesday (August 31st).
On deadline day, Football Insider revealed the Cherries had agreed a fee of up to £3million for the midfielder.
The 26-year-old had just six months to run on his contract at Parkhead.
Hutton claimed that manager Ange Postecoglou would be “devastated” to lose one of their “big-time” players in Christie.
However, he suggested the Hoops should have offered him a new deal to make him one of the top earners in Glasgow.
“It seemed like it was between Burnley and Bournemouth on the final day of the window,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“Celtic had to do something, he obviously wasn’t going to sign a new deal.
“He started the season really well under Postecoglou. Not just with his assists – his all-round performances were very good.
“I think he’d be devastated to lose a player with that talent.
“It’s poor from Celtic – they should be offering him something to match some of the other highest earners or the big-time players.
“He was one of those players and has been for a long time.
“Maybe he felt undervalued, or maybe he felt it was time for a change.”
Christie signed for the Hoops from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2015 and netted 41 goals in 151 appearances for the club.

The winger scored one and assisted three in nine games for Celtic since the start of this season.
He can make his Bournemouth debut against Barnsley on September 11.
In other news, Hutton has claimed Celtic are “desperate” for this defender to return.
