Celtic blow Rangers out of the water after six-figure payout
Celtic and Rangers have both landed a six-figure windfall from Uefa in international payments, sources have told Football Insider.
The Uefa Euro 2024 club benefits programme has distributed a total of £198million between 901 teams from the 55 European football associations.
The initiative has seen clubs rewarded for releasing players to Uefa national team competitions, including the 2020-21 and 2022-23 Nations League, European qualifiers and Euro 2024.
Clubs received an equal share for every player released for Nations League matches and European qualifiers, while a fixed amount per player was paid per day during the Euros.
Scottish sides were handed a combined £2.4million for releasing their players as part of the programme.
Celtic received the largest payout in Scotland, with their £874,000 windfall worth almost double Rangers’ £438,000.
Hearts were next on the list with £351,000, while Motherwell banked £258,000.

Celtic blow Rangers away after £38m windfall
Celtic have continued their dominance in the Scottish Premiership this season after being crowned champions for the fourth year in a row.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are on course to claim the treble after booking their place in the Scottish Cup final, where they will face Aberdeen later this month after already lifting the Scottish League Cup.
Celtic landed a £38million windfall from the Champions League before being knocked out in the play-off round by Bayern Munich in February.
That is significantly more than Rangers’ prize money from the Europa League, with the Ibrox club raking in around £17million prior to their quarter-final defeat against Athletic Bilbao.
