Celtic board told to ‘back Brendan Rodgers’ after £15m reveal – fans explode

Celtic suffered Champions League heartbreak on Tuesday (18 February) when they were knocked out of the competition in dramatic fashion by Bayern Munich.

The Scottish giants had been leading Munich 1-0 on the night after a 63rd-minute goal from Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn had taken the score to 2-2 on aggregate.

However, a 94th-minute goal from Alphonso Davies secured the Bundesliga side’s passage into the next round.

The Champions League game wasn’t without controversy though, as Celtic fans believe that Daizen Maeda was fouled in the build-up to Munich’s late goal.

The result left fans and players alike heartbroken, with Kasper Schmeichel sending Celtic fans a message to thank them for their support and make it clear he was proud of his teammates.

Brendan Rodgers shares Celtic future plan

Rodgers spoke to the media after the game during his post-match press conference, where he defiantly looked ahead to the future.

He said: “We’ve taken a club of this size and magnitude, a club where one of the players is maybe more than our budget to buy players, what they might be on in salary.

“My unswerving plan is to make us a seasoned club at this level where we can go and really hurt big opponents like Bayern Munich.”

Celtic fans want Rodgers to be financially backed

The Hoops fans were left proud of their teams efforts against Munich, but they have now urged the club to provide financial support to Rodgers.

The club are already set to do that as Football Insider revealed Kieran Tierney will be Celtic’s highest-paid player from next season.

However, supporters now want more from the club’s hierarchy as they believe the team will “have some good seasons in Europe” if that happens.
