Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has gambled on picking the players who let him down against Zenit for Sunday’s pivotal league match against Aberdeen.

The team, which was announced a short time ago on Celtic’s official Twitter account, sees two change from the side which lost 3-0 in Russia, with Tom Rogic and Scott Sinclair replacing Eboue Kouassi and Callum McGregor.

However, the big news is that the shambolic trio of Dorus de Vries, Mikael Lustig and Jozo Simunovic, all of whom were at fault for the goals scored by the Russian side, start the game.

The selection of de Vries in particular seems fraught with danger, as the player has failed to convince in his time at the club and was very poor at Zenit’s second goal.

Lustig and Simunovic have played well for the Hoops in the past, but those days seem long gone, as both men have struggled badly at times this season.

The Hoops need to win the game at Pittodrie to quell any talk of a Rangers title challenge for the time being. The Gers cut the lead at the top of the table to six points following their 2-0 win over Hearts on Saturday, a Bhoys win would see the gap increase back to nine points.
