Celtic budget given ‘rocket boosters’ by £372m boost – Kieran Maguire

Champions League qualification for 2024-25 will add “rocket boosters” to the finances at Celtic Park.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic will earn around four times more than any club competing in the Europa League next season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side successfully defended their Scottish Premiership title this week with an emphatic 5-0 win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening (15 May).

Their title success means that Celtic have now guaranteed their qualification to next season’s Champions League.

The prestigious European competition is undergoing a format change to a Swiss-style format which will see clubs compete in a league format before entering the knockout phase.

As reported by The New York Times, Uefa predict that the new format will produce an additional £372million in prize money for competing clubs.

Celtic finances to boom after Champions League qualification

Maguire explained that the Champions League will be “very lucrative” for the Scottish champions.

Champions League qualification will give rocket boosters to Celtic’s finances,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The introduction of the Swiss-style model into the Champions League from 2024-25 onwards means that it will be very lucrative for the club.

Uefa have increased the prize money available in the tournament.

Tottenham

They will be guaranteed at least one more home match and one more sold-out crowd which could increase further depending on their performance.

It will be significantly greater than any revenue generated from the Europa League – which is usually worth a quarter of the Champions League.
