‘Celtic can afford Lennon Miller but Rangers can’t pay up’

Rangers are unable to afford Motherwell’s Lennon Miller despite their interest in the 18-year-old.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that Rangers are “not at the table for those type of players.”

The Old Firm rivals are both monitoring the teenage sensation in a bid to bolster their squads moving forward, but Football Insider revealed Celtic are the favourites to land him.

Football Insider reported that Rangers’ financial situation will lead to them struggling to sign Miller, with the club’s latest annual report revealing the club are operating at a worrying £17.2million loss.

Miller has attracted interest from both teams due to his impressive performances this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 18 performances in all competitions.

Rangers are dealing with financial issues restricting a move for Lennon Miller

There isn’t the money there to spend, you talk about Lennon Miller, that’s a perfect example in Scotland,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“He’s going to command a huge asking price, Celtic can afford to pay it, Rangers can’t, and it’s as simple as that.

“Rangers are not at the table for those type of players.

“They’re going to have to be looking at loans at top quality players, who they can pick up, who are maybe not playing at their clubs south of the border, in Europe, wherever it be.

“The recruitment has got to be very, very clever, because it’s clear at the moment the team’s not good enough, it’s not strong enough.

“It’s not getting the results that it should be getting or performing on the level it should be getting.”
