English giants Aston Villa are reportedly on the brink of financial meltdown, and Celtic can take advantage of this by swooping in for Robert Snodgrass.
The Telegraph reports that the Midlands side will not complete the loan signing of the 30-year-old West Ham winger should they lose the Championship play-off final against Fulham.
Brendan Rodgers should make a move for the experienced international should Villa not reach the Premier League.
It is unlikely that the Hoops would be able to afford what West Ham would be looking for to sign the man with 25 Scotland caps on a regular basis, but a loan deal could appeal to all parties, particularly the player, who is a well-known Hoops fan.
After falling out of favour at West Ham, Snodgrass joined Villa on loan at the start of last season, and he has had a very good season for Steve Bruce’s side, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists in 42 appearances.
With Patrick Roberts having departed the Hoops and Scott Sinclair’s future in doubt after a series of poor performances last season, the Bhoys are in need of another winger for the squad, and a player like Snodgrass would be a valuable addition as the Hoops aim to reach the Champions League group stages once again.
