Celtic confirmed line-up v Aberdeen: Fan favourite axed in three changes

By Danny Wright

Celtic have confirmed that three changes have been made to Brendan Rodgers’ line up ahead of Wednesday night’s return to Premiership action against Aberdeen at Pittodire.

Following Saturday’s win against Hibernian in the League Cup, Rodgers has opted to start Moussa Dembele, Tom Rogic and James Forrest with Scott Sinclair, Leigh Griffiths and fan favourite Patrick Roberts being axed to the bench after starting at Hampden.

The Scottish champions announced the team news on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off.

The Hoops can move three points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership table with a win on Wednesday night, as currently both sides sit level on points in first and second, only Rodgers’ side have the advantage with a better goal difference.

Celtic are currently on a 60-game unbeaten run in domestic competition and can create more history with a win against an in-form Dons side and extend their record run.

Derek McInnes’ men are yet to lose at home this season and possess an identical record to their upcoming opponents from their opening nine Premiership fixtures.

However recent history is not on the side of Aberdeen, who have lost to Celtic in each of their last five meetings, conceding 12 goals in the process.

In other Celtic news, the Hoops have deployed their scouts as they step up their interest in this goalscoring defender who was previously valued at £17million.
