Celtic could accept cut-price Josip Juranovic bid – ‘he would have been aiming higher,’ says pundit
Alan Hutton has insisted Josip Juranovic will be “aiming higher” than Monza if he is to leave Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back suggested the Hoops could accept a £7million bid from the Serie A side.
According to the Daily Mail (9 January), the Italian club are pursuing a £7m deal for the 27-year-old.
The Croatia international has already turned down an improved contract offer from the Parkhead club as he set his sights on a move.
Monza are now said to be keen on signing the World Cup star on loan with a deferred £7m fee in the summer.
Other clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona are also believed to have been interested in the defender.
When asked if Juranovic would have been aiming higher than Monza when he returned from his third place finish in Qatar, Hutton told Football Insider: “I am pretty sure he would have.
“That is no disrespect to Monza. We are talking about someone who had a great World Cup and he is a really good footballer.
“For him to come back and there to be talk about Chelsea and Barcelona and then Monza come out. We are talking about a Serie A team that are fighting at the bottom of the league. The grass is not always greener.
“Does he want to move to Serie A and be fighting at the bottom of the table? Or do you want to be at a team that is going to win trophies, possibly be in European football.

“For me, I think he would have been aiming higher. This is something he would not fancy too much.
“But if Celtic get an offer of £7million-plus and they accept it then it is down to the player.“
