‘Celtic could have played v 15 Rangers players and still won’ – English pundit lays into ‘destroyed’ Ibrox giants
Celtic are now favourites over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Celtic’s “outstanding” Old Firm victory last week (9 February).
Ange Postecoglou’s side raced into a 3-0 win at Parkhead after just half an hour and kept Rangers at arm’s length for the rest of the game.
They followed it up with a 4-0 thumping of Motherwell on Sunday (6 February) to maintain their one point lead at the top of the table.
“The Old Firm game showed to me that Rangers were complacent,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They hadn’t lost for six or seven Old Firms and thought they could just turn up and beat Celtic.
“Celtic showed in that game, they could have played against 15 Rangers players and still won. They were a team that would have won at all costs. They looked upset from last season and determined to win the title this season.
“They absolutely destroyed Rangers in that first half. That was the most one-sided Old Firm game in years.
“It should be a big wake up call for Rangers. They should know that they’ve got a fight on their hands. It could come down to those last two Old Firm games.

“Celtic look like the team know their patterns of play. They were getting the ball into their full-backs, they looked like the better team for me.
“Rangers have bounced back. Both teams had emphatic wins at the weekend so it’s definitely spiced up the title race.”
