Celtic could seal three late-window signings after £17.5m report – pundit

Celtic have the budget to sign three “very good players” before the transfer window shuts.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new figures reported from the sale of Kristoffer Ajer to Brentford.

According to the Daily Mail (23rd August), the centre-half moved to Thomas Frank’s side in a club-record £17.5million deal.

Sky Sports initially reported the transfer to be worth £13.5million, although it was stipulated that number could rise with performance related add-ons.

The sum Celtic secured for the Norway international is even more impressive when it’s taken into account he was into the final 12 months of his contract at Parkhead.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the new details reported, Campbell said:

“Wow, well it’s a wonderful bit of business if they get the full £17.5million from that deal.

“I’ve been really impressed with what Ange Postecoglou has done on a limited budget so far. He can put a team together. The recent results prove that.

“The Ajer deal suggests there is still money there for Celtic to bring some real reinforcements in.

“They can get three very good players through the door for that kind of money. They can do it, definitely.

“What Celtic could do is weaken some of their rivals by going and buying their best players.”

The Daily Record claimed on Sunday that Postecoglou wants to strengthen in three more positions before the transfer window shuts next week.

It is said another centre-back, versatile midfielder and striker are desired.
