Celtic expected 4-3-3 v Anderlecht: Quartet omitted as Rodgers rings changes

Celtic take on Anderlecht in their final Champions League encounter at Parkhead on Tuesday night with a place in the Europa League last 32 on the line.

The Hoops lead the Belgian champions by three points and three goals and are in pole position to clinch European football after Christmas for the first time in three years.

Brendan Rodgers’ side defeated Anderlecht 3-0 in September thanks to goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair, and are clear favourites to win the game in Glasgow.

The Hoops will go into the game in good form having defeated Motherwell 5-1 at the weekend, but four changes are expected to be made from that side in a 4-3-3 formation.

Jozo Simunovic could replace the inexperienced Kristoffer Ajer and the always dangerous Callum McGregor is expected to come in for Tom Rogic, who is more of a luxury player.

Despite his good performance against Motherwell, Jonny Hayes may be replaced by the in-form James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard – even though he scored a hat-trick against the Fir Park side – lacks the Champions League experience that Moussa Dembele has and could round of a quartet of players to be omitted.

However, the Bhoys will not want to take any risks in the game and the team that the manager selects will be indicative of that.
