Celtic expert: ‘Finished’ Christopher Jullien to be sold this summer

Ange Postecoglou “doesn’t like” Christopher Jullien and he will be sold by Celtic this summer.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the central defender’s future.

Jullien, 29, only made one appearance for Celtic during the recently concluded season after he fought back from an injury that sidelined him for a year.

In his absence, the Hoops have found a new starting centre-back partnership in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt.

Nir Bitton and Stephen Walsh occasionally stepped in the replace one of the regular starters as Jullien failed to break back into the side.

McAvennie insists he will be sold this summer.

“It’s clear that Ange doesn’t like him [Jullien],” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There were so many games to play last season and he never got a look in, that tells me he’s pretty much finished at Celtic.

Carter-Vickers and Starfelt played every game. I think one of them needs a big, powerful defender to partner them at the back and you would think Jullien fits that mould.

“But he hasn’t played and it doesn’t sound like he’s injured again so Ange clearly doesn’t like him as a player.

“I expect he will leave this summer because Ange won’t keep anyone who isn’t contributing.”

Jullien has scored 10 goals and supplied four assists in 62 appearances in all competitions for Celtic.

He joined the club in the summer of 2019 from French side Toulouse.
