Celtic expert has new worry after confirmed Aaron Mooy news

Frank McAvennie is worried about Celtic having to play without Aaron Mooy and Reo Hatate.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker insisted the Celts would have had a much easier game against Hibernian last weekend (18 March), had Mooy or Hatate been on the park.

Although Hatate started the game, he was forced off with a hamstring problem just 12 minutes into the match and was replaced by David Turnbull.

Mooy was absent from the game due to an injury as well as recent arrival Tomoki Iwata who was also nursing an injury.

Mooy was forced to withdraw from the Australia squad for the current international break as a result of the problem that sidelined him at Parkhead last week, although Socceroos boss Graham Arnold confirmed it wasn’t serious.

When asked if the pair’s injuries will be a big problem for the Hoops, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think it was unfortunate.

I think if Hatate had not got injured we would have broken down Hibs a lot easier. He is the kind of player that does that.

[Matt] O’Riley is a bit off the ball at the moment but that will come back. I think Iwata and Hatate alongside [Callum] McGregor will be magnificent. That would be my pick if I could get it.

Mooy has come in, the old man of the squad and he has shown how to play. He keeps things simple. He has not got a turn of pace but he can see a pass.

Hatate and Mooy, he can’t afford to leave the two of them out of the same team and it showed against Hibs.
