Celtic expert impressed by what he’s seen from Aaron Mooy as footage re-analysed

Frank McAvennie has been impressed by Aaron Mooy’s Celtic transformation.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker praised what he has seen from Mooy since the restart, despite initial concerns.

The 31-year-old arrived at Parkhead in July on a two-year deal and has mostly been used as a substitute by Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder has been in the starting XI seven times since his arrival in Glasgow and he has played the full 90 minutes on just four occasions.

It took until last week for Mooy to net his first goal for the Celts.

As shown on Sky Sports (28 December), the Australian also scored his second goal for Ange Postecoglou’s side in the same match as they defeated Hibernian 4-0 on Wednesday (28 December).

Mooy was on the bench for the 2-2 draw with Rangers on Monday (2 January) and replaced Matt O’Riley for the final half an hour and made one key pass during that spell.

McAvennie has been pleased with Mooy’s improvement.

I have got lots of confidence in him,” he told Football Insider.

I like the fact that they are not changing the system when he brings players in, they all know what they are doing.

I am impressed with the way they are playing at the moment, their movement, everything is so quick.

Even Aaron Mooy, he has been a bit slow for me in recent games when I have seen him. But he just dictates the game. He lets the others go and play and it works well.

In other news, a Celtic expert has suggested ‘Scott Brown replacement’ on his way out – ‘they have come to a deal’.
