Celtic expert issues ‘big’ Liel Abada claim after journalist’s update

Frank McAvennie has insisted Liel Abada will be a “big time player” at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker claimed Abada will not leave Parkhead yet as he is “not ready” for a move to the Premier League.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (22 December), English top flight clubs are following the 21-year-old.

Ange Postecoglou’s side consider the Israeli a key player and want to keep him at all costs.

The winger joined the Green and Whites in 2021 on a five-year deal and the Hoops are desperate to hold on to him.

When asked if it will be difficult for Celtic to keep Abada given the interest from south of the border, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not think he is ready for England yet.

I think Ange is looking after him, bringing him in and taking him out. He is going to be a big-time player.

Celtic

He is only 21, I do not know if he would control a place at any team down in England. The way he is progressing he will want to go to the big ones. He will not get to the big ones yet.

“If he goes to a big team he is not going to get a game yet. So why would he not want to stay, learn his trade at a bigger club than most down in England. I would suggest that he stays because he is playing well.
