Celtic expert: Liel Abada backed to join Bundesliga club after source’s fall-out reveal

Frank McAvennie has backed Liel Abada to join a German club if he leaves Celtic this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Abada will go abroad if he doesn’t sign a new contract at Parkhead.

The 21-year-old’s current contract runs until 2026 after joining from Maccabi Petah-Tikva in 2021.

Despite having made 41 appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season, the winger has fallen down the pecking order given the impressive form of Jota and Daizen Maeda.

Abada has been used mainly off the bench and has started just 17 of the 41 games he has featured in this campaign.

On 9 April, Football Insider revealed that the Israel international is wanted by multiple Premier League clubs amid tensions with the Hoops boss.

Southampton and Crystal Palace are believed to be interested in Abada’s services ahead of the summer and sources close to the situation say there is a genuine chance he could quit at the end of the season.

McAvennie suggested Abada might look beyond the UK if he quits the Glasgow club this summer.

If he is not signing a contract he will go abroad, Germany or somewhere like that,” he told Football Insider.

Celtic

There are a lot of places to go and learn and he needs to go somewhere he can learn more.

He either does it off Ange or he will do it off one of the coaches in Germany I think.
