Celtic expert shares ‘major concern’ about Adam Idah and Kyogo Furuhashi
Adam Idah’s and Kyogo Furuhashi’s fitness is a “major concern” for Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie claimed that the strikers’ stamina and work rate looked off the mark for much of their Old Firm showdown against Rangers on Sunday (7 April).
Kyogo, 29, started the clash at Ibrox but was subbed off for Idah, 23, in the 69th minute having failed to provide a goal contribution.
The Japan international struggled to have his typical impact against the Gers having managed just 22 touches, seven accurate passes and one shot on target.
The Norwich City loanee bagged Celtic’s third and final goal in the 3-3 draw but has not started any of their last three league matches despite netting six goals across 11 outings.
Celtic have ‘major concern’ with Idah and Kyogo fitness
McAvennie was adamant that Kyogo should keep his spot in Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up for the remainder of the season but was worried whether either of the pair have the fitness to complete a full 90 minutes in the crucial title run.
“Kyogo is the number one choice – there’s no doubt,” he told Football Insider.
“Idah has started a few games but he’s more of an impact player at the moment.
“Kyogo just gives the movement, he gives the running, he creates space.
“But they looked tired [against Rangers] and it’s a long season.

“They’re going for the title, so they need to start playing for 90 minutes.
“I can tell you, that’s my only major concern – their fitness.”
