Celtic expert slams Ross Wilson in withering Rangers claim – ‘their season is now over’

Frank McAvennie has claimed the recruitment at Rangers is why they are unable to catch Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said the Gers have not been spending their money wisely.

As quoted by footballscotland (3 March), Light Blues boss Michael Beale said his side have to “compete against the odds” in the league because they are not going to spend “the most money”.

Beale added that the team that spends the most is always the one that finishes first.

Some fans argue that Celtic have spent their money more wisely than their Glasgow counterparts.

For example, the cost of Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate combined was less than Rangers spent on Ridvan Yilmaz, who has made just seven appearances since his summer arrival due to injury.

Josip Juranovic cost the Hoops almost half of what the Gers spent on Ben Davies and the Croatian has been sold on for almost four times what the paid for him.

McAvennie insisted the Celts have spent their money more effectively than the Gers.

They have bought three or four players that are equivalent to Rangers buying one,” he told Football Insider.

It is a pure matter of recruitment and Celtic are getting the recruitment right. Ross Wilson at Rangers is not getting it right.

Rangers

The season was over for Rangers in January because they are not going to catch Celtic. It baffles me as to why they have let [Ryan] Kent and [Alfredo] Morelos’ contracts run down when they need the money.

I do not know what the director of football was thinking when he let all their contracts run down, it is a bit baffling.

In other news, Rangers decide to let go £15,000-a-week star.
