Celtic expert slams SFA after new fan drama – ‘show a backbone’
Hearts are foolish to disallow big away allocations for Celtic and Rangers next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie urged Scottish football authorities to “step in and do their job” to prevent teams limiting away fans.
According to The Daily Record (10 July), the Edinburgh club are set to slash all Tynecastle away allocations to around 650 fans, with the exception of their city rivals Hibernian.
Ten of the 11 Scottish Premiership sides will now only be given one section of the Roseburn stand for league fixtures as a result of bumper season ticket sales and demand for walk up home tickets.
McAvennie was unimpressed by the Jamos’ decision.
“I think the SFA or whoever is in charge is a joke,” he told Football Insider.
“I know it is Hearts’ ground and they can do what they want but you have got to let away fans in.
“If Heart sdo not start winning it is going to be empty at Tynecastle. A lot of die hard fans go week in week out but if they are not winning that is not the case.
“I do not understand why they are not wanting Celtic and Rangers fans there.

“Surely as a football unit you have to let fans in. If you speak to any player at Hearts, they want Celtic and Rangers fans in there. They have got such a great wind up with them and that is part of football.
“I think the football authorities have got to step in and do their job. They have got to show a backbone and say this is not happening.“
