Celtic expert tells fans they are wrong after huge ‘problem’ at Livingston clash
Livingston were right to allow Celtic fans to occupy the majority of their stadium during their clash on Sunday (31 March).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie was baffled that swathes of fans were outraged that the bottom-of-the-table Lions allowed such a huge allocation to the visitors at Almondvale.
Brendan Rodgers’ side, who beat the hosts 3-0, had an allocation of 8000 at Livingston’s 9713-capacity ground and brought a huge display before halftime that stretched across the majority of the stadium.
Supporters of other clubs questioned why the relegation-threatened side would allow such a disproportionate amount of away fans, but manager David Martindale defended his club’s decision by citing the financial benefits.

McAvennie too defended the club and claimed that Livingston need “every penny they can get” before their expected relegation.
“Livingston are a fairly new club,” he told Football Insider.
“They do the same when Rangers go there.
“I’ve been to the games at Livingston and they’re lovely people, they’re great.
“It would be empty if they didn’t allow all those Celtic fans.
“They can fill their stadium on their own.
“Just give home fans one stand and give Celtic three – I don’t understand what the problem is.
“It’s about making money.
“At least four times a year they can fill that stadium and make a couple of million.
“It’s a lot of money when Celtic and Rangers go there.
“I don’t get why they wouldn’t do it.
“They can’t afford to lose that kind of money.
“I get the fans’ view, but if they had a big enough support, they wouldn’t have to do that.

“It’s swings and roundabouts.
“It looks like Livingston are going down now, so they need every penny they can get.”
