Celtic expert thrilled by ‘huge’ triple development

Cameron Carter-Vickers’, Reo Hatate’s and Maik Nawrocki’s return to the Celtic squad is “huge” for their title charge.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie was delighted that the trio are all back fit after their injuries.

Carter-Vickers, 26, has struggled with setbacks all season, having missed 18 games in all competitions, but has now started the last six league games.

Meanwhile, Hatate, 26, has played the last three league clashes after an eight-game stretch out with a calf injury and bagged the sensational opening goal in their recent 3-0 win against St Mirren on Saturday (13 April).

Celtic trio’s return is ‘huge’ for title hopes – McAvennie

Nawrocki, 23, has missed most of the campaign through injury and earned just his ninth league outing against the Saints with his sixth start.

McAvennie admitted that Carter-Vickers and Hatate were the “most important” returnees, but wants to see Nawrocki as a staple of Brendan Rodgers’ backline for the rest of the title-chasing campaign.

“I’ve always liked Narwocki,” he told Football Insider.

“My partnership at centre-back would be him and Carter-Vickers.

“And I think the two most important players that we’ve been missing are Reo Hatate and Carter-Vickers.

“Without a doubt, their return is really important for the rest of the season.

“All season, Celtic haven’t really had a settled starting line-up.

“The manager hasn’t played the same team two or three times, so having these guys back is huge.”
