Celtic expert wants Greg Taylor replaced after what he did against Rangers – ‘I hate this’
Celtic must axe Greg Taylor from the starting line-up and sign a “top” replacement this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie slammed Taylor, 26, for not defending enough in Celtic’s 3-3 draw against Rangers on Sunday (7 April).
The left-back has been a mainstay for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season having started every game he has been available for in all competitions.
With five assists to his name this season too, his attacking quality has been clear, but he has often let the Hoops down with defensive mishaps and risky positioning.
Celtic star Greg Taylor ‘needs to defend more’ but should be axed
McAvennie was adamant that the Gers attack targetted the Scotland international’s defensive vulnerability and claimed he’d be “pulling his hair out” if he was Taylor’s manager.
“I think Celtic need two new defenders this summer,” he told Football Insider.
“No disrespect to Greg Taylor but Celtic need a top defender.
“They need a good left-back.
“They were spoilt with Kieran Tierney and what I keep saying is that he and Andy Robertson are ahead of Taylor for Scotland.
“[Tierny and Robertson] are defenders first and foremost, but Taylor seems to want to play more forward.
“He was perfect for Ange Postecoglou’s team, but now he needs to defend.
“When Abdallah Sima came on [during the Old Firm], he came on on the right and they targetted Taylor.
“Sima had the run on Taylor.
“Sometimes I just wish Greg would defend.

“I hate this.
“If I was his coach, I’d be pulling my hair out!”
