Report: Celtic face three-way PL battle for long-term enforcer target
Celtic face even more competition from the Premier League with Crystal Palace coming in for long-term target Dundee defender Jack Hendry, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun have suggested that the London club are in pursuit of the 22-year-old after watching him for the past few months and have done a number of reports on the player.
It means that if Celtic are going to win the highly-rated enforcer’s signature, they will have to beat off Bournemouth as well, who are also keen on the Dundee man.
The Dark Blues want £1.5million to part with Hendry but it is thought that the Hoops would not be willing to match that.
Football Insider verdict:
The Bhoys have been slow off the mark during the January transfer window which has created a degree of unrest amongst the Parkhead faithful so they certainly need to move swiftly if they are going to bring in a player or two. If Celtic are unable to match the £1.5m that Dundee are after then Palace will surely have the available funds to do so. But the Hoops need acquisitions after their form has wavered lately and they haven’t looked as assured in the league as they usually do, particularly in the last five outings. After being battered by Hearts in December their all-conquering aura has dissipated and they need signings to tighten up at the rear.
