Celtic fans alarmed by sudden news at Ibrox: ‘Rangers are actually back’
Celtic fans have been sent into panic mode after a huge development at Rangers on Monday.
The Bhoys currently sit second in the Premiership table after Saturday’s 1-0 win away at St Mirren, but their campaign has been marred by frustration towards the club hierarchy so far.
Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell was forced to abandon the club’s annual AGM last Friday after discontent and unrest among the fans who were present at the meeting, and that has continued build pressure on those at the top of the club.
Martin O’Neill’s appointment as interim manager has brought a series of strong results on the pitch, but the situation across the club is anything but harmonious at present.

Celtic fans call for board to follow Rangers example
It’s now been suggested that Celtic’s AGM could have brought the end of Lawwell’s control at the club had it played out differently, and that appears to be something that their fans are keen to see take place in the coming weeks.
Frustration has quickly mounted after an inconsistent start to the season at Parkhead, and fans now want to see their club follow the example that has just been set by Rangers on the other side of Glasgow.
The Ibrox outfit sacked their chief executive officer Patrick Stewart and their sporting director Kevin Thelwell on Monday, with unrest from fans cited as one of the key reasons behind the decision.
Rangers fans have taken to X to share their delight at the removal of the two senior figures, who have both been subject to heavy criticism since the start of the season.
However, Celtic fans on X are calling for their club to take a life out of their rivals’ book in a hugely surprising development.
One supporter tagged the Bhoys’ club account in a tweet from Sky Sports confirming the departures and wrote: “See Celtic if people perform badly at their jobs this is what happens.”
Another fan branded Thelwell’s reign at Rangers as a “pantomime,” while another suggested that it was now Celtic’s turn to make a similar announcement.
That theme is consistent across the Celtic fanbase, with countless people hoping to see their club follow suit and denounce the perceived failings at the boardroom level.
The Bhoys will be concerned by Kevin Thelwell departure
Celtic closed the gap to Hearts at the top of the table to just four points after they were beaten 1-0 at Aberdeen on Sunday.
The Bhoys also have a game in hand on the current leaders, which will surely have O’Neill and his men believing that they can still fight their way to the Premiership title.
However, there will undoubtedly be an air of concern around the club after the latest news from Ibrox.
Thelwell’s transfer dealings have left Rangers with a bloated and inefficient squad, but there have been signs of Danny Rohl beginning to help the team turn a corner.
If Andrew Cavenagh and Co. can get the appointment of Thelwell’s replacement right, then it could prompt the kind of ruthless clearout that could see the Bears become a totally different side in the second half of the season.
Rangers are certainly not out of the title race just yet, and if Thelwell’s successor can hit the ground running, then everyone at Celtic Park will be checking back over their shoulders.
