Celtic fans destroy 25-year-old on Twitter after display against Ross County

By Dominic Toner

Erik Sviatchenko completed 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Ross County – and the Celtic fans were highly critical of his performance on Twitter.

The 25-year-old defender has been an ever-present in Brendan Rodgers’ side this campaign and played at the heart of a three-man defence on Sunday.

Kieran Tierney opened the scoring for the visitors in the first-half, but Sviatchenko was unable to prevent Michael Gardyne scoring a headed equaliser.

The Bhoys substitute Patrick Roberts managed to regain the visitors’ lead by darting into the penalty area and beating the goalkeeper at the near post.

However, Sviatchenko gave away a penalty late on which was converted by Liam Boyce, despite their appearing to be no contact made.

Sviatchenko completed a move to Celtic Park in January 2016 and has been a mainstay in the starting line-up.

The Denmark international has helped the Boys romp to the league title this season, but fans feel there are better options in the squad.

Kolo Toure and Dedryck Boyata are potential replacements at Rodgers’ disposal and he may be tempted for a change ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers.
