Celtic fans explode at ‘rotten’ Luis Palma after what he did v Falkirk
Celtic fans have been left raging at Luis Palma after his performance in their Scottish League Cup clash against Falkirk at Parkhead.
The Scottish Championship outfit fought bravely but were ultimately outclassed away from home, having led at half-time before losing 5-2.
Goals from Ross MacIver and Finn Yeats saw them take the lead after Paulo Bernardo’s strike, but later goals from Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn saw the Hoops progress to the next round.
Rodgers made good use of his options on the bench, bringing on the likes of Kuhn and Arne Engels, who changed the course of the game with their impact.
However, after Palma left the pitch in the 61st minute, the home crowd could not believe what they had seen as they fumed at his “dreadful” display.
A lack of threat in the final third, and little to no effort to track back and provide defensive cover for his full-back, saw the 24-year-old hooked after an hour.
His performance was made worse by the presence of young Alex Valle behind him, who was left with little defensive support on his Celtic debut.
Celtic fans rage at Luis Palma after his display v Falkirk
Palma has played a bit-part role in Rodgers’ side so far this season, playing a combined 106 minutes across four games, with his only start coming against Falkirk.
His display against Championship opposition showed exactly why he has dropped out of first-team contention and left fans stunned.
Taking to social media following the game, Celtic fans fumed at Palma’s display, labelling him “rotten” and “embarrassing”, while others called for him to be sold.
