Celtic fans mock Kenny Miller for ‘shameful’ comments made during Old Firm clash

Celtic fans on social media were quick to mock former Rangers player Kenny Miller for his “shameful” commentary during the Old Firm derby on Saturday (11 May).

Celtic took a step closer to the Scottish Premiership title after winning 2-1 against Rangers at Celtic Park.

Following a lively start, the match burst into life after the half-hour mark with three goals in five minutes.

Matt O’Riley scored the opener for the hosts, just three minutes before Daizen Maeda forced an own goal from John Lundstram to double their lead.

Cyriel Dessers headed home from close range to halve Celtic’s lead but any potential Rangers comeback was halted when Lundstram was sent off for a reckless challenge on Alistair Johnston.

Former Celtic and Rangers star Kenny Miller was commentating on the game for Sky Sports and voiced an unpopular opinion that the challenge was not worthy of a red card.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Miller said: “By the letter of the law, it’s a red card… but that’s never a red card”.

Miller’s contradictory comments were slammed by Celtic fans, who claimed the 44-year-old was “embarrassing himself”.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are now six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and firmly in pole position to defend their league title.

Celtic return to action on Wednesday (15 May) when they travel to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock.
