Celtic fans rage at ‘disgusting’ Joe Hart flashpoint – ‘Humiliating’
Celtic fans are furious that Joe Hart was allowed to step up and take a pivotal penalty in their shootout vs Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon (20 April).
The Glasgow giants booked their spot in the Scottish Cup final after coming out on top of a 6-5 penalty shootout at Hampden Park.
Aberdeen scored a last-gasp equaliser in extra time through Angus McDonald to level the scores at 3-3 and send the tie to a shootout.
After four flawless penalties from Celtic, Hart surprisingly stepped up to take the fifth and potentially game-winning shot for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The 37-year-old, who is retiring at the end of the season, saw his effort rebound off the post – sending the shoot-out to sudden death.
However, Hart quickly redeemed himself by saving Killian Phillips’ effort to book Celtic a spot in next month’s final.
Despite winning the game with his save, Celtic fans on social media were outraged and bemused that Hart was chosen to take such an important penalty.
Celtic will find out their opponents for the final on Sunday afternoon when Rangers face Hearts at Hampden Park.
Rodgers’ side will now turn their attention towards their trip to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership next Sunday (28 April).
